Programme Timing

Common knowledges and competences answer to three approaches: methodological, organisational and of dissemination.

The methodological one regards the educational sections to be developed and acquired to develop the necessary competences; the organisational one regards the integration in channels, mechanisms and/or organs and work structures typical of research, in the University of Vigo and in other possible research centres; and, the dissemination one is the presentation to the audience or the research dissemination partially or totally within activities like congresses participation, sessions, exhibitions, awards, grants, projects, stays in other centres, etc.

Each of these approaches is a module in the study programme answering to those competences and have their own precise educational activities. All the modules are compulsory:

 

Extension of the duration of doctoral studies

Chapter 7 of the Doctoral Studies Regulations of the University of Vigo regulates the duration of doctoral studies, which will be, as a general rule, 4 years for full-time studies and 7 years for part-time studies. It establishes the possibility of requesting an extension of the deadline for the deposit of the doctoral thesis for a period of 1 year for full-time and 2 years for part-time studies.

In the case of students who enter before the academic year 2023/2024, the period of stay will be, as a general rule, 3 years full-time and 5 years part-time. In these cases there is the possibility of requesting two extensions to the thesis deposit period.
